Telegu Music Download
Telegu is spoken by more than 60 million people in India and has become the second largest spoken Indian language after Hindi. Telegu is the language of the state of Andhra Pradesh which is known for its music. Almost all Telegu songs be they old or new, classical or folk, remix or pop are available on various sites for free download.
A large number of Carnatic music’s compositions and songs are written in Telegu. Infact most of the songs of the renowned classical musicians Saint Thyagaraja and Annamacharya are written in Telugu. The songs were rich in melody and lyrics and touched the soul of every person who heard them. Almost all of these songs are devotional or bhakti songs written in the praise of deities like Lord Rama, Lord Ganesha, Hanumanji, Lord Balaji, Lord Venkat to name a few. The traditional instruments used include veena, tanpura, mridangam, ghatam etc.
The Telegu movies popularized music and made it accessible to the masses. Music of the olden day movies was more classical or folk oriented and laid stress on the finer nuances. Truly it was music that struck a cord with one and all. Ghantasala was one of the stalwarts on Telegu music. He not only managed to retain the classical influences in his music but also helped popularize Padyam which is a kind of folk mythological drama.
The music of today’s movies is very obviously westernized. Genres like rap, hip hop, dance, beats, disco etc have become very popular. But some of composers still try using the folk and classical influences and create a kind of fusion music which sounds very appealing. Popular composers of today include AR Rahman, Illayaraja, Shrikant Deva, MM Srilekha to name a few. The popular singers are Shankar Mahadevan, Chankri, Karthik, Tippu, MM Keeravani etc.
Telegu pop music is also becoming very popular nowadays with the young generation. Most of the music is westernized using genres like hip hop, R&B, rap, dance, disco etc. Budding artistes include Smitha whose Maska maska was a huge hit, Tina Maya, Suchitra, Swetha, Prema Vedham, Shibu Pintu, Maalgadi Shubha etc.
